NHS workers from the Countess of Chester Hospital will receive 3,900 free pizzas from the local restaurant Dough Dough, celebrating its first birthday
The team behind Dough Dough, the independent artisan pizzeria in Northgate Street, has decided to celebrate its first birthday by offering 3,900 free pizzas to NHS workers from the Countess of Chester hospital, as a thank you for their hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The Chester community is very important to us as a business,” said Des Pheby, local entrepreneur and founder of Dough Dough. “We have been providing hot meals to the Countess of Chester hospital on a daily basis throughout the lockdown period, but we thought it would be a nice gesture to give them one last thank you. Once we are allowed to reopen safely and they can finally come to the restaurant, we’d love for them to relax and enjoy a well-deserved meal on us with their loved ones.”
Their exclusive birthday offer consists of 3,900 meal redemptions on a first-come, first-served basis, and it involves two pizzas and one side per NHS ID card. It will be available for dine-in only as soon as the government deems it safe for restaurants to reopen. In order to be eligible for it, the table must be booked in advance and the NHS card must be shown to the staff. The offer is valid once per card.
Dough Dough will celebrate its first birthday next month. After their successful launch on 19th July 2019 and despite the struggles created by the current pandemic, the team is already looking forward to opening a second branch in Liverpool before the end of the year, thanks to the support and enthusiasm shown to them by the local community.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the NHS staff as well as all the other key workers for their hard work during this extremely difficult period,” added Des.
Dough Dough is an independent restaurant founded by Des Pheby in 2019 and part of the Pheby Food Concepts Group Ltd, a food & beverage company based in Northgate Street. As an artisan pizzeria, they specialise in Neapolitan-style pizza, with the dough being raised for over 24 hours before being cooked in a traditional wood-fired oven.
