Charity gig raised over £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support

On Friday 1^st November Oliver & Co Solicitors put on their dancing shoes and raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support with a charity gig.

Their decorating team ensured the venue looked tip top with green bunting and balloons as far as the eye could see.

The band, Eskimo Spies, is headed by Oliver & Co’s very own Industrial Disease Specialist Solicitor, James Cameron. Playing two sets of amazing songs, there was something for everyone, from Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ to Blur’s ‘Parklife’ and U2’s ‘With or Without You’.

The dance floor was full and everyone had a fantastic night, despite the miserable weather outside!

In addition to ticket sales, there was a raffle to boost funds. Oliver & Co would like to say a huge thank you to all those who donated prizes and bought tickets.

The grand total raised was £1,026.00. This will go to Macmillan Cancer Support. Macmillan is a cause very close to the heart of their Industrial Disease Team. They deal with asbestos disease claims and many of their clients suffer with the incurable asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma.

Macmillan provides support to people suffering with any kind of cancer and we have seen the physical, financial and emotional support they give our clients and their families.

Head of Industrial Disease, Helena Cameron was extremely pleased with how the event went; “After much planning from our dedicated team the night went off with a bang. We really appreciate the support given by ticket sales, raffle ticket purchases and volunteering time.  The band were excellent as always, giving up their own time to perform and filling the dance floor with lots of well-known hits. We are now looking forward to next year’s event!”
